SABDTC provides general dog training classes.
Almost all dogs, especially when young, benefit by learning civilized behaviour and life skills, which help them live as part of a human family. This training strengthens their bond with their human family and helps them obey standard instructions, assisting them and you in a variety of situations. This is what SABDTC aims to achieve for you and your dog.
Dogs with complex behavioural issues or difficult problems may need individual help, which group classes cannot provide. Instructors will refer you to the Chief Instructor, who will work with you to find individual tuition better suited to your situation.
Obedience Training
Training
We offer instruction in basic dog obedience training, as well as class opportunities for you to practise and socialise with your dog.
Our Instructors will help you teach your dog behaviours such as come when called and how to walk on a loose lead.
We teach you the steps required to teach a behaviour then it's up to you to work with your dog during the week. The more often you practise, the faster your dog learns.

Competition Obedience
Mock trials
We also encourage those who are interested to try competition obedience - a precision sport where handlers and their dog perform a standard series of exercises.
There are many levels in obedience trials, beginning with Community Companion Dog (CCD) up to the challenging Utility Dog (UD) classes.
We are affiliated with Dogs NSW and may run official Trials each year.

At SABDTC, we use positive reward-based training methods. That is, we encourage the use of food, treats or toys to help keep your dog motivated.
All dogs and handlers are different, so the time it takes to reach individual training goals varies. Factors include your patience, consistency, timing of commands and practice. We do not use or allow violence or physical punishment as a training tool or harsh treatment to force submission. Positive training encourages cooperation and mutual understanding between humans and dogs as part of the education process.
