SABDTC provides general dog training classes. Almost all dogs, especially when young, benefit by learning civilized behaviour and life skills which help them to live as part of a human family and in the human world. This training both strengthens their bond with their human family and helps them to obey standard instructions which help them manage in situations which they will meet. What classes do you offer ?
We offer a 4 week beginners course. From there you and your dog can continue your training moving into levels 1, 2, 3 and 4
Dogs that have complex behavioural issues or difficult problems may need individual help which group classes cannot provide. Instructors will refer the owner to the Chief Instructor who will work with them to find individual tuition which will be more able to deal with their problems and their dog's problems.
- Requirements
- Your dog should be a minimum of 16 Weeks old, i.e. 4 months old
- Your dogs must have a current C3 vaccination
- You should be at least 16 years old
- Flat collar required, No retractable leads and back attached harnesses are not recommended.
- Choke chain prohibited

Our Beginners course runs for 4 weeks, each class runs for 45 minutes and are held at our Club grounds.
After Beginners - what next ?
Your weekly classes continue for the duration of your membership. From Beginners you move into level 1 and can continue through to levels 2, 3 and 4.

SABDTC classes are held on Sunday Mornings, with classes at 9 am and 10 am (8 am & 9 am in February & March only). The duration of classes are 45 minutes. This is to support social distancing and limit the number of members at the grounds at any given time. Registration is mandatory when accessing the training grounds.

November Intake is full. Bookings for February Beginners intake open Monday 6th January, at 7am. Places are limited and fill very quickly.
Membership Fees
Your membership fee covers all Sunday classes. Nothing extra to pay. There is no weekly class fee.
Memberships are valid from the date of your intake until the end of the financial year on 30th June.
January, February and March intakes are at half price.
April, May and June intakes are at full price but are financial until 30th June the following year.

- Rescue Dog discount.Use the code "RESCUE" at checkout to receive a $20 discount. Your dog must come from a registered animal shelter.
- Both SENIOR and RESCUE discounts can be applied one after the other at checkout if applicable for a total $40 discount.

Wanting to continue your membership? Memberships are renewed by 1st July each year. Members will recieve an email about how to renew.

Extreme weather conditions may cause changes in classes schedule. SABDTC will inform all members on Sunday by
8 am at the latest.
It is very rare to cancel a class or event due to weather. The weather forecast may not be favourable but history tells us the weather is usually good for class between 8 am and 11am

What you need
ClothingYou are required to wear enclosed shoes at all times recommend you wear long pants to avoid being scratched by jumping, playing dogs. We also recommend you wear a hat in summer.
TreatsWe use positive reward-based training methods that involve using food rewards. Find out more about high-value treats or what to do if your dog isn't food motivated here. Don't forget a treat bag to place your treats in.
EquipmentCome with a flat or buckle collar and a four or six-foot leash (cotton web or leather is recommended and 1/2 or 5/8 inch width is easiest to handle). Chain collars, chain leashes and head halters are not allowed, and harnesses are not recommended.
Choke Chain prohibited.
Leads, collars and treat bags are available for purchase from the clubhouse.
